Law students must be strongly committed to upholding the justice system: Justice Raman

BHUBANESWAR:Odisha High Court Judge Justice Murhari Sri Raman has said that students aspiring to pursue law should be strongly committed to upholding the justice system from the ground up.

He said that a lawyer must be loyal to the justice system and be a fearless and independent-minded person because the public has unwavering faith in the judiciary.
Justice Raman said this while addressing students at a lecture series organized by the Saturday Education and Research (SOR) University.
Justice Raman told the students pursuing law and agriculture that a lawyer needs to be truthful and have an eye for relevant facts. Students who want to enter the legal profession need to study the legal system deeply and it should be a continuous effort. Because there is no alternative to it. He said that a law student needs to study law throughout his life.
He said that while conducting any legal proceedings before the court, their arguments must be relevant and clear. This argument must contain all the rules of law.
Stating that artificial intelligence is currently being used in law drafting, Justice Raman said that students can use it as an aid. But itRelying on others can be dangerous. He said that lawmakers need to rely more on their own intelligence.
The event was presided over by Professor Anup Kumar Samantray, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, while Senior Professor Madhusudan Das, National Institute of Law, SOA, introduced the guest of honour.Professor Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean of Student Welfare, SOAR, moderated the program.
