BHUBANESWAR: Tamil Nadu’s Salem born mining contractor, B Prabhakaran’s wife, Kiruthika Prabhakaran, has purchased a huge 17 acres of land in prime locations under Bhubaneswar Tahasil in Odisha. Recently, Kiruthika Prabhakaran was in news for grabbing Lord Lingaraj’s land and local Tahasildar had on several occasion, stopped its illegal construction close to Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.
This was come to light following a tweet by BJP Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi. MP Sarangi has shared the details of lands, which was purchased by Kiruthika Prabhakaran in different locations under Bhubaneswar Tahasil.
17 acres ( 7, 465 dismili) of Lands are located at Giringaput, Bhagabatipur, Daruthenga, Jujhagada, Patharagadia, Padasahi, Ghatikia, Bapujinagar, Chandrasekharpur, Sundarpur under Bhubaneswar Tahasil of Khurda district in Odisha.
Of the 39 plots, 38 were purchased in the name of Kiruthika Prabhakaran while 1 plot ( Khata no-1066 and 1960 dismili land) purchased in the name of Thriveni Earth Movers Pvt Ltd MD B Prabhakaran at Ghatikia in Khurda.
BJP MP Sarangi said “people have been complaining about one Kiruthika Prabhakaran buying patches of land in different places in Bhubaneswar,”. ‘This is very intriguing , If such small patches are bought over with support from high & mighty, where will Odisha farmers go? To Chhattisgarh & Jharkhand?, MP asked.
“People of my Bhubaneswar Constituency have told that there is a continuous effort to buy more and more land with government patronage. It is time we prevented non-Odias to buy out land using money earned from Odisha’s mines and minerals,” MP Sarangi said.
Responding to Aparajita Sarangi’s allegations, Kiruthika Prabhakaran says “Purchased land legally not forcibly; as a citizen of India I have the right to purchase land; I have all the documents”

Thriveni Earth Movers Pvt Ltd and its MD B Prabhakaran was a key player in Odisha Mining scam and even Justice MB Shah Commission had reported about it and had penalised the firm.
