Jindal Steel & Power Odisha Facilities at Angul, Tensa-Barbil in Keonjhar observed 18th Punyatithi of Group Founder and India’s Visionary Steel Tycoon Shri OP Jindal on Friday.

BHUBANESWAR:  Jindal Steel and Power Chairman Naveen Jindal on Friday paid rich tribute and remembered his visionary father and India’s Steel Tycoon, Shri OP Jindal on his 18th”Punyatithi”.

‘Remembering my source of inspiration & pillar of strength, my father on his Punyatithi. He was a man of great wisdom & vision, and his legacy continues to inspire us. We love you and miss you daddy,” JSP Chairman Naveen Jindal said in a tweet.

“Remembering the founding father of the stainless steel revolution of India, Shri O P Jindal, on his 18th Punyatithi,” JSP said in a tweet.“Heartfelt tribute on the 18th Punyatithi of our Source of Inspiration, Shri O.P. Jindal ji, Founder Chairman, O.P. Jindal Group,’ JSP Foundation said in a tweet.

‘Jindal Global University (JGU) paid homage to Shri O.P. Jindal on his death anniversary. A noted industrialist, entrepreneur & a visionary leader, it was in his memory that JGU was established in 2009 as a philanthropic initiative by our Founding Chancellor,” JGU said.

The Angul unit of JSP observes d 18th Punyatithi of Shri Om Prakash Jindal with a series of charitable activities and a Volunteer Blood Donation Camp. E.D of Angul unit Mr Hridayeshwar Jha inaugurated d blood donation camp & encouraged employees to come forward 4 this noble cause. JSP Kasia Mines at Barbil in Keonjhar and office at Bhubaneswar also marked the occasion.

Om Prakash Jindal (7 August 1930 – 31 March 2005), popularly known as O.P. Jindal, was born in Hisar, Haryana. He established a successful business enterprise Jindal Steel and Power under the flagship of the Jindal Organization, of which he was the chairman. In November 2004, Jindal was awarded the “Life Time Achievement Award” for his outstanding contribution to the Indian Steel Industry by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. According to the latest Forbes List, he was ranked 13th amongst the richest Indians and placed 548th amongst the richest persons of the world.[2]

Jindal was appointed Minister of Power in the Government of Haryana. He won the Hisar Legislative Assembly seat of Haryana three times consecutively. He was also a Member of the Committee on Food, Civil Supplies and Public Distribution from 1996 to 1997.

Jindal was elected to the Haryana Vidhan Sabha (the Haryana state government) in February 2005 and was the Minister of Power in the Government of Haryana at the time of his death. He was the Chairman of the N.C. Jindal Charitable Trust; Patron and Trustee of Agroha Vikas Trust and Agroha Medical College.

His four sons, Prithviraj Jindal, Sajjan Jindal, Ratan Jindal and Naveen Jindal now run the steel and power empire. His widow Savitri Jindal was Minister of State for Revenue, Disaster Management, Rehabilitation and Housing in Haryana state government, while his son Naveen was a member of the Parliament. His granddaughter Sminu Jindal is Managing Director of Jindal SAW and founder of Svayam.
