SAMBALPUR:Starting from nature, every person in the society is our teacher. It is not only the people in educational institutions who are teachers, the people who take us in rickshaws or even the little ones teach us every moment. The real job of a teacher is to inspire, guide and explain, said MP and former Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan while participating in the ‘Teachers’ felicitation ceremony’ organized in Sambalpur on the occasion of Holy Guru’s Day.
In a program organized by ‘Sambalpur Public Library’, Shri Pradhan paid tributes to the great philosopher and former President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary. He also paid his respects to all the gurus who built the country and society and felicitated the teachers present. He said that without Dronacharya and Kripicharya, great warriors could not have been created in Mahabharata and without Shri Krishna as a guide, the outcome of Mahabharata would have been different. Similarly, without Pujya Shankaracharya, the status of Sanatan Dharma in the world would have been deplorable. Similarly, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan guided the education system of India after independence. Today, India is ready to take a long leap of development after coming out of the slums of thousands of years of colonialism, every person in our society will have to participate in this great change.
Shri Pradhan said, today’s modern artificial intelligence or AI can answer many questions in a short time, but there will always be a need for a teacher to understand and explain those answers. He added, “Our main goal is to make children self-respecting, brave and fearless. For this, we have to increase their skills along with education. We have to create a new culture by focusing on learning outcomes until the children become employable and self-reliant.”
Today, the world has reached a point in the name of progress where questions have been raised about the stability of human beings. As the youth are going astray, it is the responsibility of the teacher to show them the right path. The use of single-use plastic is harmful to the environment; the complete ban on the use of plastic in the Maa Samaleswari temple is a great example of this. He called for taking it as a vow to bring wellness to the society through cleanliness.
