SAMBALPUR:Odisha’s great freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai is a symbol of bravery, endurance and strength. The “Veer Surendra Sai Museum” dedicated to the people at Dalaipada in Sambalpur will inspire the coming generation to know about their heritage and history, said Union Education Minister and Sambalpur MP Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.
Shri Pradhan, who is on a two-day visit to Sambalpur, inaugurated the museum today and said that the inauguration of the Veer Surendra Sai Memorial Museum is a unique effort to pay tribute to our pride and heroic story. This museum has been built with the joint efforts of the State Government’s Culture and Tourism Department, District Administration and ‘INTAC’. Many rare photographs related to the history, culture and traditions of Sambalpur are displayed here. In addition, there are living portraits of great freedom fighters and great personalities of the region who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom. Through these works of art, the heroic story and cultural heritage of Sambalpur are presented very beautifully.
He further said that according to the Archaeological Survey of India, the history of Sambalpur is more than 10,000 years old, which is evidenced by the cave paintings and rock art found here. This region, which is the seat of Maa Samaleswari and is located in the Mahanadi basin, has a special identity for forests, agriculture and folk culture. He said that we are committed to making the stories of our regional activists reach the whole country through the National Education Policy. Shri Pradhan invited the people of Sambalpur, especially the students and youth, to visit this museum.
Apart from this, he said that in the discussions with the District Administrative Officer, there was a discussion about establishing a new ‘Art, Music and Craft College’ in Sambalpur. Along with this, he emphasized on completing the under-construction auditorium work for local artists as soon as possible. In the coming days, our priority is to further enhance the famous cultural heritage of Sambalpur like Panchavadya, Dalkhai and Rangabati and provide a suitable platform to the artists, said Shri Pradhan.
