BHUBANESWAR:Brahmapur MP Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi has expressed deep concern over the future of more than 1,000 B.Sc. Nursing students of 16 nursing colleges under Brahmapur University. In this context, he has written an urgent letter to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, requesting him to intervene immediately.

The application process for the Nursing Officer Recruitment Examination 2026 (Notification No.: IIE-54/2026-1896/OSSSC) published by the Odisha Subordinate Services Selection Commission (OSSSC) has been scheduled to run from June 13 to July 13, 2026. However, due to administrative negligence and delay by the Berhampur University authorities, the final year examination results and State Nursing Council registration numbers of the students of the 2021-2025 batch are not yet available.
While students from all other universities in the state are applying after getting their certificates, only students from Berhampur University are going to miss out on this great opportunity. Since this recruitment opportunity is coming after a gap of four years, there is a risk that the careers of more than 1000 talented students from South Odisha will be completely ruined if they miss out.
To resolve this serious problem, MP Dr. Panigrahi has presented the following demands to the Chief Minister:
Work on a war footing: Berhampur University and State Nursing Council are directed to complete all the processes immediately and on a war footing.
Immediate publication of exam results: The final year exam results and registration process of the concerned students should be published immediately.
Application Deadline Extension: The last date for online application for OSSSC Nursing Officer Exam may be extended by a few more weeks so that these candidates get an equal opportunity to appear for the exam.
The memorandum submitted by the students (file “Appointment letter to MP-1.pdf”) has been sent to the Chief Minister for his information and necessary action. Along with this, a copy of it has also been sent to the Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, OSSSC Chairman and the Chancellor of Berhampur University. The MP expressed strong confidence in the compassionate leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister that the students will definitely get justice.Published by the Office of the Parliamentarian for the information of the public and the media.
