BHUBANESWAR: Today i.e on 30.08.2026, Akash Bisoi, OLS-1, District Labour Officer ( DLO), Kendujhar has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs.20,000/- from an Electrical contractor for grant of labour licence in favour of his agency.
The contractor had been tasked with electrical installation works by TPNODL. As a labour licence was required to engage the labourers to execute the work, the contractor applied online on 14.08.2026 as per rules of Labour & ESI Department, Government of Odisha for issuance of labour licence in favour of his agency.
On 16.08.2026, when the contractor enquired about issuance of labour licence, accused Sri Bisoi demanded Rs.20,000/- for the aforesaid purpose. On this, the contractor ( Complainant) reported the matter to vigilance authorities alleging harassment by Sri Bisoi, DLO. Based on this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Bisoi, DLO, Kendujhar today evening while taking bribe Rs.20,000/- from the complt. *The entire tainted bribe money Rs.20,000/- has been recovered from the possession of the accused Sri Bisoi and seized*.
