BHUBANESWAR: INC. MP for Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor on Monday deeply condeoled the sad demise of Odisha IGP, CID, Crime Branch Shefeen Ahamed K, who from his Lok Sabha Constituency.
Dr. Shefeen Ahamed K, who was serving as the Inspector General of Police (CID, Crime Branch) in Odisha, passed away on Monday morning at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram. He had been undergoing treatment for cancer over the past two years.
‘Deeply saddened by the passing of Shefeen Ahamed K,, IPS, IG of Police, CID-CB, Odisha, who lost his battle with cancer this morning in Thiruvananthapuram at just 50, INC MP said.
‘I came to know Shefeen during his deputation to Kerala, when he served as Rural SP of Thiruvananthapuram. He was a thoughtful, unfailingly courteous officer with a fine mind, who wore his competence lightly,” he said.
‘A CET graduate and a son of this city, he went on to distinguish himself in Odisha, particularly in cyber crime and the Crime Branch, over more than two decades of service.
Though he returned to his home cadre in Odisha, he never quite left Thiruvananthapuram behind, and stayed in touch over the years. That he should be taken from us so young, and in the city he loved, makes this loss all the harder to bear,” said MP Shashi Tharoor
‘My heartfelt condolences to his family, his colleagues in the Odisha Police, and all who knew and admired him,” he added.
A distinguished officer of the 2003 batch, he served with dedication, integrity and professionalism. His valuable contributions to policing, particularly in cyber crime investigation, will always be remembered with respect. Odisha Police stands with his bereaved family and loved ones. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
