BHUBANESWAR:In ongoing searches against Sri Hansdah following a trap case registered against him for taking a bribe of Rs.6,000/- to facilitate issuance of a wholesale medicine license, *further cash of Rs.1,25,200/- from his office at Jagatsinghpur and Rs.53,500/-from his possession ( both unaccounted) unearthed and seized*. *So far, the total seizure of cash stands at Rs 1,78,700/-*

Today i.e on 03.09.2026, a short while ago, Sri Sanjay Kumar Hansdah, Asst. Drugs Controller/Drug Inspector, Jajpur, Additional Charge of Jagatsinghpur District has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance at Jaipur Chhak on Paradeep-Kataka NH-53 road side *while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 6000/- from an applicant for recommending his application to the office of Drug Controller, Bhubaneswar (headquarter) for issuance of wholesale medicine license*.
The complainant had applied on dt.11.05.2025 for a drug license for his wholesale medicine store. In this connection, the complainant met several times to Sri Sanjay Kumar Hashdah, Asst. Drug Controller/Drug Inspector Jagatsinghpur, but he paid no heed to it and asked the complainant to come up with demanded bribe money of Rs.6,000/-. Being harrassed, the complainant reported the matter to vigilance authorities. Today, when the complainant reached at his office, Sri Hansdah was not present. When the complainant contacted him over the phone, the accused asked him to reach at Jaipur Chhak. When the complainant reached the spot, accused Sri Hansdah asked him to sit inside his Wagon R car bearing number OD 2L- 3325 where he took the demanded bribe. Following this, the Vigilance team nabbed him and recovered the entire bribe money Rs.6,000/- from the exclusive possession of Sri Hansdah and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched at the office and residential locations of Sri Hansdah from DA angle.
In this connection, Kataka Vigilance PS Case no.34 dt.02.09.2026 U/s- 7 P. C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Sri Hansdah. Detailed report follows.
