BHUBANESWAR:A two-day training workshop on the importance of statistics in research and its practical application was organized by the Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding at the Institute of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (AVSH) run by the SOA on Wednesday and on how to make teachers more efficient in conducting research.
Forty-three teachers from various educational institutions run by Soa University, including Nursing, IAS, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, and Veterinary Colleges, participated in this workshop and received training on various aspects of statistics and its application in research.
The quality of research depends on the collection, analysis, and writing of data. However, many researchers collect data but do not have a clear idea of what statistical design to use to analyze it and how to obtain appropriate results.
The program provided training on what data requires which statistical design and how to easily analyze it using computer software (SPSS).
Inaugurating the conference, SOA Vice Chancellor Professor Pradeep Kumar Nanda said that research without statistics is incomplete and directionless. He said that any research is deeply dependent on statistics.
The event was also addressed by IVSACH Dean Professor Sushant Kumar Das and Director, SoA Professor Kautuk Kumar Sardar. Professor Sardar said that if the scope of statistical and applied knowledge of researchers in biology is further expanded, more articles can be published in this field.
The inaugural program was conducted by all the associate professors of the Department of Animal Reproduction.
