Rain Water Flooded Bhubaneswar: Aparajita Sarangi Urges Naveen Patnaik to wake up from ‘Kumbhkaran’ Slumber

BHUBANESWAR: BJP Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha MP and Party’s National Spokesperson, Aparajita Sarangi on Monday morning came down heavily on Naveen Patnaik Government in Odisha for its faulty drainage system and failure to implement the recommendations of Parliamentary Standing Committee for Drainage Development Plan and its early execution.

MP Sarangi, who visited Bhubaneswar Railway Station here early this morning, shared a video footage , where commuters and passengers facing hardship in boarding trains due to waterlogging at Station and as well as Railway Tracks.

No drains,no disposal.Suffering everywhere.Tell us-we are there to support you.But Governance is yours.Pl wake up from’Kumbhkaran’ slumber; 21 YEARS!Residents of Bhubaneswar will have to take to streets.@CMO_Odisha,”Bhubaneswar BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi tweeted @AprajitaSarangi.     

“This is our ‘SMART’ Bhubaneswar today! After 21 years of Governance , this is what it is!Parliamentary Standing Committee, GoI, has advised the State Govt for a Drainage Develpt Plan & its early execution. Is this lethargy or indifference ? Can we justify this?@CMO_Odisha,” the BJP MP Sarangi tweeted.

Meanwhile, several parts of the State on Sunday experienced heavy rainfall under the influence of a low pressure area over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal which became well-marked, said the Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here.Moderate rain and thundershowers with one or two very intense spells of rain affected normal life in different parts of the State.

Heavy rains in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in the afternoon, threw normal life out of gear. Several low-lying areas and roads were waterlogged.The IMD said the low pressure system is very likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of north Odisha-West Bengal coasts during next 12 hours.

It is very likely to move west-northwest wards across north Odisha and north Chhattisgarh during the subsequent two to three days. The IMD has issued a Red warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls at one or two places to occur over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh on Monday. The weather office has also issued an Orange warning for the districts of Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Jajpur and Bhadrak which will also experience heavy to every heavy rainfall during the same period. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Baleswar till Tuesday.
