Vir Vikram Yadav takes over charge as New Chief Administrator of Shree Lord Jagannath Temple

PURI/BHUBANESWAR:  Amid vandalism and illegal construction controversy,  the new chief administer of Shree Lord Jagannath Temple Administration, Vir Vikram Yadav, visited the Holy Trinity’s shrine in the Pilgrim town on Wednesday after taking over the charge.

District Collector Samarth Verma, senior officials, and servitors accompanied Yadav to the Jagannath temple in the morning.

He replaces Dr Krishan Kumar who was relieved from the State Government in March this year, to join as Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

After offering prayers to the Lords, Yadav proceeded to the SJTA office at ‘Bada Danda’ and took charge as the Chief Administrator.

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man of Begunia area in Khordha district for allegedly vandalising more than 40 chulhas (earthen ovens) at the Rosaghara of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri.

The accused has been identified as J Mahapatra, said Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh, adding that details of his identification are being withheld due to the sensitivity of the case. He was apprehended from his village.
