BHUBANESWAR:Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today met Shri Atul Gupta, Deputy CEO of ‘Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited’ (ISPRL) in New Delhi. On this occasion, he discussed in detail the current status and progress of the ‘Strategic Petroleum Reserve’ project to be established at Chandikhol in Jajpur district.

Shri Pradhan said that this huge oil storage project with a capacity of 4 million metric tons (MMT) will create new opportunities for development and employment in Odisha in the coming days. Shri Pradhan said that the double engine government is committed to strengthening India’s energy security by developing Odisha as a major ‘energy hub’ of the country through the ‘Purrooday’ mission of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

It is worth noting that the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had approved this project on June 27, 2018 to strengthen India’s energy security. After the continuous efforts of Shri Pradhan, the process of registration of lease deed and occupation of 400 acres of land by ISPRL for this project has been successfully completed at the Dharamshala Sub-Registrar’s office in Jajpur district. The project, to be built at a cost of about Rs. 8,743 crore, will create more than 5,000 jobs and act as a strong security blanket for the country during the volatile oil prices in the global market.
