BHUBANESWAR:The Department of Child Health Nursing, SUM Nursing College (SNC), Campus-1, run by the Education ‘O’ Research (EOR) University, organized a special program for two days on August 6 and 7 in the context of International Breastfeeding Week 2026. The program was organized based on this year’s theme “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthening What Works”.
On the first day of the program, on August 6, an awareness program was organized at the OPD of the Pediatrics Department under the SOA-run Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital. Through this program, nurses taking care of mothers and children were made aware about the importance and benefits of breastfeeding.
On the second day, at a special program organized at SUM Nursing College, Dean of SNC Campus-1, Professor (Dr.) Sasmita Das delivered the welcome address, while Associate Professor of the Department of Child Health Nursing, Smt. Ruby Pradhan, gave a detailed presentation on the main topic.
Professor Dr. Arkhit Swain, Advisor, SOAR and renowned paediatrician, was the chief guest, while Dr. Aditya Mohapatra, Additional Director (Child Health), Health and Family Welfare Department, State Government, and Professor Dr. Samarendra Mohapatra, Head of the Department of Paediatrics, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, were the guests of honour. Professor Parvathi Tripathi, Director, SNC, was also present. Smt. Manisha Prahraj, Assistant Professor, Department of Paediatric Nursing, proposed the vote of thanks.
In the second part of the program, experts from the Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology participated and delivered their valuable speeches.
