BHUBANESWAR:Union Education Minister and Sambalpur MP Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has expressed his heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Mohan Charan Majhi for the State Cabinet approval for a new Inter-River Reservoir (ISS) Bridge-cum-Barrage project on the Mahanadi riverbed near Ayodhya Sagar Weir, Sambalpur. This mega project, to be constructed at a cost of over Rs 440 crore, will further accelerate the development pace of Sambalpur, he said in ‘X’.
Shri Pradhan said that this groundbreaking initiative will greatly strengthen the connectivity and transportation system in Sambalpur and its surrounding areas. This will ensure drinking water supply in the local area and will also help in increasing the groundwater level. Not only that, the provision of irrigation facilities will further strengthen the local agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries, as well as related livelihoods and bring economic prosperity to the region. This project will not only develop the infrastructure, but also give a new identity to the heritage and culture of Sambalpur in the global arena.
Shri Pradhan further said that this project will give a big boost to tourism activities like boating. It will also be developed as a beautiful ‘Alati Ghat’ near the temple of Maa Samaleswari, the presiding deity of the area. He expressed hope that this will further enhance the religious, spiritual and cultural atmosphere of Sambalpur in the coming days. He thanked the government for its commitment to the all-round development of the people of Sambalpur.
