BHUBANESWAR:On the occasion of Odisha’s national festival, Raja, the School of Hotel Management (SHM), an education and research institute (SRO), organized a Raja Pinta competition on Friday.
The competition showcased various types of cakes prepared by young women and women above the age of 18. Around 30 contestants participated in the competition.
Various types of Podpitha such as Sapuri Chaul Podpitha, Pumpkin Podpitha, Rice Podpitha, Milk Podpitha, Biryani Podpitha, Chhatu Podpitha, Mehul Podpitha, Mandia Podpitha, Amrut Bhanda Podpitha and Lau Podpitha were displayed in this competition.
Similarly, many types of cakes were displayed such as Budha Chakuli, Chenamanda, Biry Khaja, Soyabeen Chunk, Jamukoli Chitau Pintha, Mango Kakara, Chandrakanti, Suji Sijha Manda, Purdia Manda, Suji Kakara, Gud and Sugar Arisha Pintha, Palua Manda, Ksheer Gayantha, Jamukoli Mitha, Jamun Manda, Jamun Modak, Carrot Chitau, Mandia Kandamul Rasaroll, Mandia Khiri Gayantha, Mandia Pintha, Mandia Kakara, Mango Chitau, Bell Pintha, Kadamba Pintha, Arisa Muan Pintha, Chena Phul, Enduri, Mandia Manda, Coconut Modak, Khua Gayantha Pintha, Aparajita Gayantha Pintha Khiri, Sago Rasavali, Mango Kakara, Bhrusanga Patan Chakuli.
To test the cooking skills of these women, Professor Sushant Ranjan Chaini, Dean of the Institute of Hotel Management, Mr. Jachinder Jena, HR Head of Life Hotel Bhubaneswar, Chef Mr. Satyasauvan Lenka and Professor Sadalapavan Lenka joined as judges and determined the standards of the food.
In this competition, the taste, preparation, appearance, presentation, and uniqueness of the contestants’ dishes were judged.
Professor Chaney, Dean of SHM, delivered the welcome speech, thanking and encouraging the contestants for participating in the competition.
Shri Jena, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that the Pinta competition is a unique way to showcase the culture of Odisha. It is not just a competition, it is an opportunity to showcase the hidden talent of women.
He praised the educational institution for its innovative efforts to showcase the talent and art of women and girls in the cake competition organized by SOA SHM on the culture and traditions of Odisha.
The guest of honour was Professor Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan, Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, SOA, who said that it is important for women to become self-reliant and to unleash their hidden talents. He appreciated the efforts of the contestants for their innovative ideas.
All the contestants who participated in this competition were awarded.
At the end of the program, Program Coordinator and Professor (Dr.) Smita Sucharita Mohapatra, SHM, proposed the vote of thanks.
