BHUBANESWAR:In a significant anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of two former engineers of Maneswar Block, Dist-Sambalpur, in a corruption case.
Today, i.e., on 25.04.2026, Sri Sadananda Pradhan, Former Asst. Engineer (Retired), Maneswar Block, Dist-Sambalpur and Sri Biranchi Narayan Dash, Ex-Jr.Engineer, Maneswar Block, Dist-Sambalpur, A/p-AE, Brutang Irrigation Project, Daspalla, Dist-Nayagarh*, who were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of PC Act, 1988/409/468/120-B IPC *for misappropriation of Govt. money by recoding inflated measurement of a road improvement work under MGNREG Scheme in the year 2008-2009 in Maneswar Block*.
Both the accused persons, namely Sri Dash & Sri Pradhan were convicted by Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur. *The Hon’ble Court sentenced each convict to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine*.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Sri Sadananda Pradhan, Former AE (Retired) and dismissal of Sri Biranchi Narayan Dash, AE, Brutang Irrigation Project, Daspalla, Dist-Nayagarh following their conviction*.
