BHUBANESWAR: On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches have been launched on the properties of Sri Bijayananda Sahoo, Superintending Engineer, RWS&S Division Bhubaneswar on 07.01.2023 at 6 places in Bhubaneswar, Angul & Dhenkanal i.e;
1. Triple storeyed building at Plot No ME -19, Mohan Das Enclave, Aiginia, Bhubaneswar.
2. Triple storeyed building at Susuda, PS-Town, Dist-Angul.
3. Double Storeyed building at Dihadol, PS-Parjanga, Dist-Dhenkanal.
4. House of his relative at Pangatira, PS-Parjang, Dist-Dhenkanal.
5. House of another relative inside Nalco Campus, PS-Nalco Township, Dist-Angul.
6. Office chamber at RWS&S Division, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar.
6 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 5 DSPs, 14 Inspectors and 28 other staff are conducting the search on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal. During searches so far, the following movable and immovable assets worth Crores have been unearthed in the name of Sri Bijayananda Sahoo, Superintending Engineer, his family members and relatives;
1) One triple storeyed building of area about 3230 Sqft., over plot No.ME-19, Mohan Das Enclave, Aiginia, Bhubaneswar
2) Another triple storeyed building at Susuda, PS-Town Dist-Angul . (It has been shown sold to sister-in-law of Sri Sahoo at a paltry sum of Rs.7.5 lakhs. It is ascertained that even this amount has not been paid. The electric connection is still in the name of the wife of Sri Sahoo. Details are under verification.)
3) One Double storeyed building at Dihadol, PS-Parjanga, Dist-Dhenkanal . Vigilance Technical Wing is carrying out detailed measurement and valuation of above buildings.
4) 14 plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar, Angul & Dhenkanal (including 6 in the name of his sister-in-law and 5 in the name of his brother-inlaw, suspected to have been acquired by Sri Sahoo as benami properties.
Details of benami transactions are under verification). The Registered Sale Deed (RSD) value comes to Rs.27.25 Lakhs. However, the actual value is likely to be much higher. Undervaluation of the plots during registration is suspected. A thorough probe has been initiated in this regard.
5) Cash Rs.1,81,430/-.
6) Bank, Postal & Insurance deposits worth Rs.44,84,485/-.
7) 1 four wheeler (Grand i-10 Sportz).
8) Gold jewellery 237 Gms. and silver ornaments worth over Rs.10 Lakhs.
9) Household articles worth over Rs.8.53 Lakhs.
Sri Bijayananda Sahoo, Superintending Engineer, RWS&S Division Bhubaneswar is being examined to ascertain the source of the assets. Further searches are continuing. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase. Enquiry is in progress.
