BHUBANESWAR:On the first day of the 77th Banamahotsav celebrations, a sapling distribution program was organized by Chandaka Banyaprani Banakhand to spread the message of environmental protection, tree plantation and creating a green Odisha to the public.
In this program, saplings of various species prepared in the nursery of the Forest Department were distributed to the local people, Eco-Development Committee (EDC) members, voluntary organizations and environmentalists. Everyone was urged to take care of the distributed saplings, keep them safe and plant as many trees as possible.
On this occasion, the Forest Officer of Chandaka Forest Reserve, Forest Reserve, said in his speech that, “Bana Mahotsav is not just limited to tree plantation, but its main objective is to create awareness in the society towards environmental protection and conservation of forest resources. Every sapling distributed today is a symbol of creating a green, healthy and safe environment for the coming generation. Therefore, every citizen should plant at least one sapling and protect and take care of it.”
