BERHAMPUR: Ganjam district of Odisha has achieved remarkable success in the country and brought glory to the entire state at the National Panchayat Awards-2025 ceremony organized by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj at the SCOPE Convention Centre in New Delhi. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi, Member of Parliament for Berhampur, expressed deep happiness over this great success and wrote an official letter to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi requesting him to promote the administrative officers and public representatives of the district at the state level.
### **Ganjam District Achievements and Awards Details:**
* **Nanaji Deshmukh Best Panchayat Sustainable Development Award 2025:** Ganjam district has secured the second position in the entire country and has won a prize money of **Rs. 3 crore**.
* **Mandar Gram Panchayat (Polsara Block):** Won **Rs. 37.5 lakh** by winning second place at the national level in the ‘Social Justice and Socially Safe Panchayat’ category.
* **Potlampur Gram Panchayat:** Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat has received the Satav Vikas Award for being the best ‘Healthy Panchayat’ in the country and has received a prize of **Rs. 25 lakhs**.
### **Response of MPs and request to the Chief Minister:**
Hon’ble MP Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi mentioned in his letter that this glorious achievement has been possible due to the tireless efforts of all the ground-level representatives including Ganjam District Council Chairperson Smt. Anjali Swain, District Collector Shri V. Kirti Bhasan, Chief Development Officer Shri Sameer Kumar Jena, Chhatrapur Vidyo Shri Sambit Sanjhavijit Sahu, Potlampur Sarpanch Shri Niranjan Pradhan and PEO Smt. Rosalyn Behera. Along with this, he also appreciated the achievements of Pandua Panchayat in Keonjhar district and Hatibandha Panchayat in Sundargarh.
MP Shri Panigrahi has requested the Chief Minister that a special felicitation ceremony be organized by the state government to encourage these successful panchayats and officers and that the government provide special grants for the further development of these model panchayats in Ganjam district.
A copy of this letter has been sent to the Panchayati Raj Minister, Chief Secretary to the Government of Odisha, Ganjam District Collector and all concerned departmental officers for their information and necessary action.
