BHUBANESWAR: Due to continuous monsoon rains and low-pressure system, flood situation has arisen in many parts of the state. Normal life has been severely affected due to waterlogging, submergence in rural and urban areas, uprooted trees, damaged roads and disruption in traffic.
On the other hand, while the Special Intensification Process (SIR) is ongoing in the state, the deadline for filing claims and objections has been fixed till August 4. Unfortunately, this deadline has become the same as the current flood disaster period. Due to this extraordinary situation, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), other election officers, representatives of political parties and volunteers have been hampered from actively participating in the special intensification process, said State Vice President Dr. Jatin Mohanty.
A delegation of the State BJP has met the State Chief Electoral Officer and submitted a memorandum. Giving information on the memorandum, Dr. Mahanty said that; The process of filing claims and objections is the most important part of the revision of the voter list.
It gives an opportunity to eligible citizens to add their names, correct the details and remove the names of deceased/moved, duplicate or ineligible voters. Ensuring the participation of every stakeholder in this process is very important for the accuracy, comprehensiveness and cleanliness of the voter list.
In view of such adverse circumstances and for the preparation of a complete, accurate and error-free voter list, it is requested to extend the deadline for filing claims and objections under a special consolidation process, Dr. Mahanty said.
The delegation included State Vice President Shri Bishnu Das, State Media Coordinator Shri Sujit Kumar Das, State Panelist Shri Patanjali Kar Sharma, State Coordinator of Social Organizations Shri Rashmi Ranjan Kanungo and Shri Sangram Keshari Nayak.
