BHUBANESWAR:The Directorate of TE and SCERT, Odisha, issued a notification on July 2nd informing the public that the revised textbooks for classes I to IV have been made available on the websites of the Department of School and Public Education, SCERT and OSEPAR and a well-considered opinion on those books will be given within seven days. It is not possible for anyone to give opinions on so many subjects within seven days for all the textbooks from class I to IV, yet the Odisha State Council of AIDSO has recovered many serious errors and attached them with a memorandum and submitted them to the Director of the Directorate.

This memorandum demands that the faulty textbooks be completely withdrawn and teaching should be done in the previous year’s textbooks for the current academic year, that the errors in the published textbooks should not be corrected, but that the textbooks be rewritten anew and accordingly, our state-based syllabus should be prepared, that the textbooks should be prepared with completely correct spelling, grammar or data, scientifically sound, logical and basic concept-based content, that a board should be formed with subject-specific experts and that the board should be given the responsibility of writing the textbooks, and that the names of all the members of the board and the textbooks written by them should be made public before the book is published, that the plan to make English language education optional should be stopped, and that the National Education Policy 2020 should be completely canceled.

It is worth mentioning that when the distortion in school textbooks has cast darkness on the future of the students of the state and there has been a state-wide protest against it and it has become a major topic of discussion at the national level, and thousands of posts of teachers, lecturers and education staff are lying vacant in government schools, colleges and universities of the state, there is no proper infrastructure, government schools are being closed, at the same time, to divert the attention of the public from the main subject and divert the movement, the government is promoting free education from KG to PG. The government has announced to distribute one crore Lakshmi Puranas from the treasury collected from the taxes of the public.

The classes have not started yet, but the Education Department has very boldly announced that there will be exams four times a year. On the other hand, all legal measures are being taken against private education traders with the aim of completely destroying government education and promoting private education. Therefore, in this situation, the organization has called on all students, teachers, intellectuals, guardians and people from all walks of life to form a united movement to save our education system from destruction. Today’s memorial presentation was attended by AIDSO State President Somnath Behera, Editor Siddhartha Rath, Vice President Bhagyagirabhi Das, Office Editor Nasim Sarkar, Editorial Board Member Vinod Sethi, State Committee Member Avinash Pradhan.
