46th Foundation Day of Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University celebrated with grand ceremony

PURI/BHUBANESWAR:The 46th Foundation Day of Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University, Shrivihar, Puri was celebrated with a grand function at the University Hall today. The Chancellor of the University and His Excellency the Governor of Odisha, Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati, attended the function as the Chief Guest and spoke about the global importance of Sanskrit language, its contribution to the Indian knowledge tradition and calling Sanskrit the mother of all languages. He highlighted the various scientific and mystical concepts mentioned in the Ramayana and Mahabharata, such as Brahmastra, Pushpak Vimana, etc., which are found in Sanskrit literature.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Parvathi Kumar Mahapatra, welcomed the guests and presented a presentation on the glorious tradition of the University, its contribution to education, research and the spread of Sanskrit language. The Registrar of the University, Smt. Pragyaashree Priyambada, presented the annual report.
Former Executive Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Dattatreya Murthy, and Chairman of the Postgraduate Council, Professor Shatrughan Panigrahi, were present as the guests of honor on the stage and expressed their views.
On this occasion, retired Professor Pradeep Kumar Nanda of the Department of Broadcasting was felicitated. Similarly, retired non-teaching staff Shri Harihar Pradhan, Smt. Shobhawati Manasingh, Smt. Subarna Marandi, Shri Surendra Bishoi and Shri Jagannath Patra were felicitated by the Chancellor.
The university’s mouthpiece ‘Shriviharbharti’ and research journal ‘Jagannathjyoti’ were launched under the patronage of the Chancellor.
On this occasion, Swami Chidananda Saraswati Meritorious Scholarship was awarded to meritorious students from various departments. Students from the Department of Astronomy were awarded Pradeep Kumar Das and Premamanjri Devi Scholarships and Nilakantha Udgata Scholarships.
This year, Ms. Monali Acharya, a student of the Department of Grammar, Ramachandi Sanskrit College, who secured the highest marks in the Shastri (+3) examination conducted by the university, was awarded the “Vansidhar and Basantamanjari Samman”. Similarly, meritorious students of the Department of Education were also awarded scholarships.
Shri Anil Kumar Mohanty was honored as the Best Volunteer and Smt. Sujata Das was honored as the Best National Service Scheme Officer by the National Service Scheme (NSS).
The entire program was coordinated by Dr. Radhakant Panda and Dr. Nivedita Kar, while Dr. Sasmita Bandar Nayak, Dr. Susanta Satapathy, and all the faculty, non-teaching staff, and students of the university, along with the university’s media cell, contributed to making the program a success.
