BHUBANESWAR:Kargil Victory Day is not just a day of military victory, it is a symbol of the unwavering commitment, patriotism and sovereignty of the Indian Army. The entire nation is forever indebted to the soldiers who sacrificed their tomorrow for our peaceful today. The Kargil War victory is an unforgettable day in Indian history. The Kargil War has taught us to grow forward in the face of adverse circumstances. Kargil Victory Day is a very glorious chapter in Indian military history. On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army defeated the Pakistani infiltrators in the Kargil War and secured the country’s borders.
In adverse circumstances, the Indian soldiers fought on extremely difficult mountains at an altitude of about 18,000 feet and in minus degree temperatures and defeated the enemy. The Indian Army launched Operation Vijay to liberate the Indian territory from the occupation of the Pakistani army in the Drass and Batalik areas of Kargil. In this 60-day war, the Indian army displayed its valor and defeated the enemy. The brave soldiers of India sacrificed their lives in the service of the motherland by defeating the neighboring Pakistan, which was hatching a grand conspiracy. On July 26, 1999, the brave soldiers of the country made all Indians proud by winning this war. Since then, July 26 is celebrated every year as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, said State Vice President Dr. Yatin Mohanty while participating in the celebration of Kargil Vijay Diwas held at the state office.
The Prime Minister, including the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, boosted the morale of the Indian Army. A new tradition was started of bringing the brave soldiers who were martyred in the Kargil War to their own villages to pay their last respects. Which created a sense of patriotism among the countrymen. The then strong and courageous Indian Army defeated the Pakistani conspiracy and defeated it in the Kargil War. This victory is being celebrated by paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice made by our brave soldiers to serve the motherland in the Kargil War victory. Among the more than 562 soldiers who were martyred for the country in the Kargil War, 13 Odia sons were included. The people of Odisha will forever remember the indomitable courage and sacrifice of the brave soldiers of Ganjam, Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara etc. districts. Our country will always remember the sacrifice, penance and sacrifice of the Indian Army.
It will inspire the present and future generations to work continuously with the spirit of patriotism, service to the country and dedication. We have achieved victory by defeating Pakistan in the Kargil War due to the valour of the soldiers. Today’s youth should work selflessly for the motherland. The nation is supreme. During the Kargil War, the enthusiasm and support of the countrymen strengthened the self-confidence of the Indian Army. The whole country is proud today for all the martyred soldiers. The way the Indian Army gave a befitting reply to Pakistan in the Kargil War and forced Pakistan to retreat, this was possible only because of the Indian soldiers. Dr. Mahanty said that our country will always remember the sacrifices, penance and dedication of the Indian Army.
On the occasion of celebrating “Kargil Vijay Diwas”, retired army officers Colonel Sabyasachi Das, Wing Commander Dr. Vijay Kumar Jena, Subedar Rahas Bihari Nayak, Naib Subedar Ashok Kumar Biswal, Arun Kumar Pati, Sergeant Dhruvananda Barik, Rudraprasad Mohapatra were felicitated and they expressed their experiences regarding the Kargil War.
On this occasion, State General Secretary Shri Biranchi Narayan Tripathi, State Coordinator of Indekejeevi Prakoshtha Shri Sudarshan Nayak, BJP News Editor Professor Shri Purnachandra Mallick, Yuva Morcha State President Shri Abhilash Panda, Bhubaneswar District President Shri Niranjan Mishra were prominently present.
