SAMBALPUR:In today’s changing world, a degree or certificate alone is not enough, but ‘competence-based education’ is the true identity of a student, said Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan at the launch of ‘Zoho Skill Hub’ and Paytm-Wisdom on Wheels (Gyan Bahan) at the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VISUT) campus in Burla.
Inaugurating the ‘Zoho Skill Hub’ set up in collaboration with global IT company ‘Zoho’, the minister said that it is not just a training center but a complete ecosystem. Here, students will get real-world workplace experience through state-of-the-art classrooms and partner offices. Students from Sambalpur and surrounding areas will be trained on the latest technology in Johor. Zoho Skill Hub will equip students with technical skills. Those who prove their skills will get direct employment opportunities in the country and abroad with the Johor partner network. Companies like Race2Cloud setting up their base in Odisha on behalf of Zoho will create a model for the entire country in the coming days.
Shri Pradhan said, as part of the corporate social responsibility, the launch of Jyan Vahan in collaboration with Paytm Foundation and Visut is commendable. This state-of-the-art bus will provide digital and financial literacy to government school students and villagers in rural areas. This initiative will strengthen the digital payment system at the grassroots level. Shri Pradhan thanked Joho, Paytm and Visut for this initiative.
Shri Pradhan further said, Burla Visut Institute has always established itself as a leading institution in the field of technology. Visut has always emphasized on practical education as a center of applied learning. With the collaboration of a global company like Zoho, now engineering and non-engineering students of Sambalpur will become skilled in the latest technology and make themselves employable.
Briefing about the education cluster of Sambalpur, the Minister said that a ‘multi-disciplinary’ education system will be created by integrating the technology of Visut, medical science of Bhimsar, biotechnology of Sambalpur University and management skills of IIM. Sambalpur. For this, faculty members of all educational institutions should plan. Modernization of curriculum with IIT Madras and agreement with IIT Kanpur for urban sustainable development will make Burla a world-class knowledge hub and a major place for job creation, Shri Pradhan expressed hope.
On this occasion, Shri Pradhan laid the foundation stone of a new ‘Training and Recruitment Bhavan’ and ‘Sports Complex’ on the university campus. These projects will provide technical training to the students and help in enhancing their physical development and sports talent. On this occasion, the Minister also felicitated and congratulated the best innovators of the university.
