BHUBANESWAR:Our education system needs to be more Swadeshi-oriented. The real purpose of education is to create a holistic human being who will be connected to his cultural values and fulfill his responsibilities towards the nation, said Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan while visiting Mysore, Karnataka, today and participating in various programs.
During this visit, Minister Shri Pradhan attended the International Conference on ‘Ekatam Mandavad Darshan’ organized by ‘Pragya Prabha’ and ‘SPMR Foundation’ at Karnataka State Open University. On this occasion, he highlighted the Indian knowledge tradition and the philosophy of revered Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. Minister Shri Pradhan said that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s ‘Ekatam Mandavad’ is not just a philosophy, but it is an enduring philosophy of our national life.
During this visit, Shri Pradhan held discussions with the Vice Chancellors of various universities. He emphasized on making India’s higher education sector a global player through effective implementation of the National Education Policy under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and establishing Indian campuses abroad.
He visited the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) and inaugurated a special exhibition there and stressed the need to include all regional languages and knowledge systems of India in the education system, apart from the 22 scheduled languages. Similarly, during his interaction with the CIIL delegation, the Minister Shri Pradhan stressed on the need for ‘decolonisation’ of linguistic structures and knowledge systems. He suggested disseminating content in local languages through institutions like the National Book Trust (NBT).
During his visit, the Education Minister met and received blessings from Jagadguru Shri Shivaratri Deshkendra Mahaswamiji. He described Mahaswamiji’s contribution in the field of rural development and value-based education as an inspiring aspect of nation building.
