State Election Commission holds discussions with political party representatives for the upcoming Panchayat and Municipal Elections-2027, House-to-house survey will begin from October 26

BHUBANESWAR:An important discussion meeting was held today by the State Election Commission with representatives of various political parties at the conference room of the Commission’s office to prepare a clean, impartial and error-free voter list for the upcoming Panchayat and Municipal Elections-2027 in the state.

The meeting, chaired by State Election Commissioner Shri Madhusudan Padhi, was attended by representatives of various political parties and shared their views and suggestions regarding the preparation of voter lists for the upcoming elections.

The meeting informed the representatives of the political parties about the house-to-house survey to be conducted starting from October 26. Through this survey, the voters’ list will be made more accurate, updated and error-free, the names of eligible voters will be included in the list correctly and the information related to ineligible, transferred or deceased voters will be verified.

The State Election Commission has requested all political parties to actively cooperate in this house-to-house survey process. In particular, each political party has been requested to deploy its Booth Level Agents (BLA) in all the polling stations in the state and ensure their active participation during the survey.

All political parties have been requested to submit the BLA data to the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) and BDO for rural areas, Executive Officer for urban areas (NAC and MUNICIPALITY) and Deputy Commissioner/Assistant Commissioner for Metropolitan Corporations by October 15.

State Election Commissioner Shri Padhi said that an accurate and error-free voter list is the foundation of a healthy and fair election system. Therefore, emphasis will be placed on transparency, impartiality and participation of all at every stage of the preparation of the voter list. He expressed the hope that with the active cooperation of political parties, the voter list can be made more reliable and error-free.

The meeting also discussed various issues such as voter cooperation during the house-to-house survey, data collection by the survey team, and addition, deletion, and correction of names in the voter list.

The Commission has called upon all concerned parties to play a conscious and cooperative role in the process of preparing the voter list so that no eligible person’s name is omitted and the name of ineligible person is not included in the list.

In the meeting, representatives of political parties gave various suggestions regarding the preparation of voter lists for the upcoming panchayat and municipal elections and assured to provide necessary cooperation in the house-to-house survey process.

In view of the upcoming elections, the entire process of preparation of voters’ list will be carried out smoothly as per the prescribed rules and guidelines. In addition, the State Election Commission is working with the coordinated cooperation of all political parties, administration and common voters to prepare a clean, accurate, comprehensive and error-free voters’ list.

The meeting was attended by State Election Commissioner Shri Madhusudan Padhi, Commission Secretary Shri Santosh Kumar Dash, Deputy Secretary Shri Durga Charan Murmu and representatives of all political parties.
