BHUBANESWAR: Development of new materials and their applications as also issues related to renewable energy were the subjects of a two-day international conference which was organised by the SOA Deemed to be University on a virtual platform on July 24 and 25.
The international conference on ‘Recent Advances in Mechanical Engineering Research and Development (ICRAMERD-20) was hosted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA’s faculty of engineering and technology.
As many as 167 research papers, findings and applications were presented by researchers of national and international repute, both from the academia and industry. The deliberations covered topics on development of new materials and its applications, thermal engineering, manufacturing engineering and industrial engineering besides renewable energy.
The conference aimed at reducing the distance between academia and industry benefitting the students and faculties of the institute while throwing up new ideas for the industry. Prof. S.A Sherif of Florida University, USA spoke on the latest trends in energy research while Prof. E. Galloni from Italy outlined the process of waste heat recovery.
