SOA IAS’ 2-day annual festival ‘Aarna-2026’ begins

BHUBANESWAR:The two-day annual festival ‘Autumn-2026’ began on Wednesday at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), a Krishi Vigyan College run by the Education and Research (EAR) department.

In this annual event, Professor Manoranjan Kar, former Vice Chancellor of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), was the chief guest and said that every student needs hard work, perseverance and punctuality to reach their goals in life. It is important to always bring positive thoughts and attitude within oneself. Because negative thoughts and their bad effects lead students towards degradation, said Professor Kar.
Professor Kar said that parents and teachers play a vital role in the lives of every student and they should be respected. He expressed hope that by finding solutions to various problems faced by the agricultural sector in the current era, the students of Soa Agriculture will be able to become agricultural entrepreneurs in the future.
SOA Vice Chancellor Professor Pradeep Kumar Nanda presided over the program and in his speech said that the institution has achieved many successes through its innovative education system. He also said that qualities like discipline, punctuality and diligence are essential for every student.
Attending the event as the guest of honour, Professor Prashant Kumar Patra, Vice Chancellor, SOAR, said that it is important for students to always be curious to learn something new which will help them in their research. He discussed how farmers can engage with the college to solve various problems related to agriculture.
Professor (Dr.) Manjula Das, Controller of Examinations, SOAR, was one of the guests of honour at the event and said that it is important to develop the hidden talents within oneself and not limit education to just book knowledge. She said that students should have faith in themselves and be eager to learn something every moment.
As one of the honored guests, Professor Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean of Student Affairs of SOAR, gave various educational examples and urged the students to grow forward. One should always respect one’s parents and teachers. Their blessings and positive thoughts within oneself will help one achieve one’s goals. One should have the attitude of doing something for oneself and the society and along with this, every student should always follow his passion and make efforts to implement it, said Professor Das.
On this occasion, the annual souvenir of the College of Agriculture “Autumn-2026” was unveiled.Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Santosh Kumar Raut delivered the welcome address and read out the annual report. Professor Bibuddha Parashar, Head of the Extension and Communication Department, IAS, proposed the vote of thanks.
Senior IAS professors, heads of various departments, and faculty were present at the ceremony.
On this occasion, prizes were given to the students who achieved success in sports and other competitions organized earlier. Various cultural programs have been organized during the two-day event.
