Their initiatives emphasize inclusive growth, healthcare, and rural empowerment near their mining and manufacturing operations in the Keonjhar and Angul districts. Sree Metaliks Ltd commits heavily to regional investments through key spending areas and commitments. Sree Metaliks Ltd is actively investing Rs 885 crore to expand its integrated steel plant in Keonjhar, Odisha. The expansion includes a major grinding unit, beneficiation complex, and pelletization capabilities to boost local production capacity and operational integration.
The state government approved an Rs 885 crore investment to expand SML’s integrated steel plant in the district generating over 1000 employment. This involves establishing an iron ore beneficiation and pellet-making complex. The Anra plant complex is undergoing project evaluation for Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) production along with a Waste Heat Recovery Boiler (WHRB) captive power plant.
SML is investing Rs 147 crore to set up a 1 MTPA (Million Tonnes Per Annum) grinding unit in Keonjhar, providing employment for over 750 individuals.
SML’s manufacturing capabilities and expansion efforts are anchored by its wholly-owned captive iron ore mines in Khandhbandh. The mines provide a secure and consistent raw material supply with a production capacity of 1.5 to 1.8 MTPA. SML’s operations also received a massive boost as the company became the controlling promoter of Gujarat-based SAL Steel Limited to gain strategic access to value-added steel products like ferrochrome and pellets.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): In accordance with India’s CSR regulations India’s 2% CSR Rule Explained (With Examples), Sree Metaliks targets spending \(2\%\) of its average net profits Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy.
Model Villages: Under recent operational approvals, the company has committed to developing five adopted villages (Anra, Dudhpasi, Raigoda, Bheldih, and Bininda) in the Keonjhar district into model villages environmental clearance compliance of Sree Metaliks Limited said.
Environment Protection & Abatement
For its mining and beneficiation expansions, the company outlines specific multi-crore capital investments for pollution control.
Capital Cost Estimates: Envisaged capital investment for environmental protection in new expansion projects ranges up to Rs. 14.06 Crores, with recurring annual operational environment costs earmarked at Rs. 5.88 Crores.
Smaller Project Budgets: For select expansions (like in the Telkoi/Keonjhar belt), capital costs earmarked for Environmental Management Plans (EMP) are approx Rs. 55 Lakhs, along with Rs. 18 to 30 Lakhs specifically for storm-water management and soil erosion.

Healthcare & Education: The company operates the SML Charitable Hospital at Loidapada, Barbil Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – Sree Metaliks Limited, which provides free check-ups and medical treatments.
Women Empowerment & Sanitation: Through its Saanchi Project, Sree Metaliks runs hygiene awareness workshops and produces/distributes sanitary napkins to local communities in Barbil Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – Sree Metaliks Limited.
Wildlife & Green Belt: SML funds Wild Life Conservation Plans in coordination with the local DFO Six Monthly EC Compliance Report – Sree Metaliks Limited and targets developing three-tier green belts environmental clearance compliance – Sree Metaliks Limited covering at least \(33\%\) of its project footprint.
Draupadi Devi Vidya Bhavan: Through DDWO, SML operates multiple schools (from nursery to middle school) that provide free or subsidized quality education to children in the industrial belt. The CSR wing regularly updates rural schools by providing educational materials, recreational tools, and structural upgrades (like installing ceiling fans) to improve the learning environment.
