NAGPUR/KOLKATA:Today, on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat hoisted the flag at a function held at the Mahal Sangh office in Nagpur. Meanwhile, Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale hoisted the flag at a function held at the Sangh office, Keshav Bhavan (Maniktala), Kolkata.
At the Independence Day celebrations, Sarsanghchalak Ji said that Independence Day is a matter of pride and celebration for all of us. Counting back from 1857, our ancestors achieved independence through numerous sacrifices for 90 consecutive years. We are proud of that sacrifice and dedication. But alongside this, we must also realize that we have achieved independence through so much sacrifice and hard work. We must maintain that independence. As Savarkar Ji said – “Ji Je Uttam, Udat, Unnat, Mahanmudhur Te Te. Swatantratay Bhagavati, Sarva Tav Sahachari Hote” – so may all the best, noble, advanced, and great sweetness that results from independence be manifested in our country. We also have the responsibility to fulfill this need.
Our nation has become independent and will remain independent. This is certain. But we must make that nation happy, prosperous, and secure. If we are to make it a nation that contributes to the world, there are many obstacles and many people who are doing the opposite. Without deviating from our essence, we must face all these challenges around the world and make India a world leader. We must make India a nation that makes a meaningful contribution to the lives of all humanity. This is the duty we face today. Let us reflect on this and leave here with today’s message.
At the ceremony held in Kolkata, Sarkaryavah urged everyone to take a pledge to make India a world leader on this auspicious morning of Independence Day. He said that Independence Day is a day of great purity, self-respect, and inspiration for us. India is an immortal, eternal, and glorious nation. We achieved independence after centuries of subjugation. Many freedom fighters from across India, including Bengal, have sacrificed their lives.
It is the responsibility of today’s Indians to keep the integrity and unity of India intact, to make efforts, hard work and contribution for the complete development of the life of every person of India, and to make every effort to establish India as a great nation before the world.
India has been making its mark on the world stage for some time now. We are gradually emerging as a strong nation, not only progressing in every sphere of life, but also possessing the potential to set an example for the world. Therefore, with the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” the people of India should make their independence a model, an example, and a model for other nations to follow, worthy of their support and cooperation.
We are all children of the same Mother India. On this day, we need to understand the role of independence, remember the patriots who sacrificed their lives in our freedom movement, and resolve to make India a more organized, socially, and economically prosperous nation.
