CUTTACK: Senior IPS officer and President of the Odisha IPS Association, Saumendra Priyadarshi, expressed grief over the demise of Inspector General of CID, Crime Branch, and Cyber Security, Shefeen Ahamed. He said, “It is a very sad day for the Odisha Police. The news of the sad and untimely demise of Shefeen Ahamed struck this morning, leaving the entire Odisha Police in shock. He was a brilliant officer, and I would call him an institution builder.

He started his career as an anti-Naxal expert while serving as SDPO Gunupur, and his contributions to anti-Naxal initiatives were extraordinary. In fact, the crucial road into Swabhiman Anchal, which had been conceptualised earlier, was finally fructified under his effort. He also did commendable work in combating cybercrime.”

“During his five-year deputation in Kerala state, he contributed significantly to Kerala’s anti-Naxal initiatives as well as the development of police technology there. He was an absolute professional, and more importantly, a mild-mannered man. He believed in empathy and was deeply welfare-oriented. In his passing, the Odisha Police has lost one of its finest officers. At this time of grief, the entire Odisha Police fraternity, especially the IPS fraternity, stands firmly by his family,” he added.
