CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR:In order to enhance road safety, ensure compliance with traffic laws and prevent accidents, the Central Range Police, Cuttack conducted a special road safety enforcement drive titled “Operation JEEVAN RAKSHA” on 12.01.2026 across various districts under its jurisdiction.
During the operation, systematic checking of commercial buses, transport vehicles, heavy vehicles and other motor vehicles was carried out at identified vulnerable and high-traffic locations. The drive focused on detection of traffic violations, enforcement of safety norms, and deterrence against negligent and rash driving.
District-wise enforcement details are as follows:
•Puri District:
A total of 495 vehicles were checked and fines amounting to ₹3,12,500/- were collected for various traffic violations.
•Cuttack District (Kantapada & Parsurampura):
5 commercial buses were checked as part of the drive.
•Kendrapara District:
160 vehicles were checked and a fine of ₹33,000/- was imposed.
•Jagatsinghpur District:
128 vehicles were checked with fines amounting to ₹16,000/-.
•Jajpur District:
184 vehicles were checked and ₹29,500/- was realized as fine.
•Khordha District:
Vehicle checking was conducted near Godipada Toll Plaza under Jankia Police Station, where 4 transport/heavy vehicles were inspected.
•Nayagarh District:
425 vehicles were checked and fines amounting to ₹79,000/- were collected.
Overall Outcome:
Across the Central Range, a total of 1,401 vehicles were checked during the drive. 12 buses and 8 transport/heavy vehicles were specifically inspected. The total fine collected during Operation JEEVAN RAKSHA amounted to ₹4,70,000/-.
The Central Range Police reiterates its commitment to road safety and appeals to all road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules, wear protective gear, avoid overspeeding and drunken driving, and cooperate with enforcement agencies. Such drives will continue in the interest of public safety and to save precious human lives.
