BHUBANESWAR:The mining lease in the Sijimali area under Kashipur block of Rayagada district was granted in 2023 by the previous BJD government. The activists have alleged that there are many legal errors in the leasing process. Citing that reason, the local residents opposed the construction of roads in the mining area. Due to many people having different opinions about the mine and the misleading comments of various political parties, fear has been created in the minds of the local residents.

During the discussion today, the local residents and the activists have complained to the delegation through a demand letter. They have alleged that the administration has been harassing the people of Kashipur area regarding mining in the past few days and that pregnant women and children are being imprisoned in jail overnight after filing false cases without any reason.
