BHUBANESWAR:Odisha Vigilance has unearthed a major financial fraud at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Kodala, Ganjam, involving the misappropriation of government funds exceeding ₹2 crore*.

*On April 8, 2026, the Berhampur Vigilance P.S. registered Case No. 04 following allegations that staff members falsified records to draw unauthorized arrear salary bills between 2023 and 2025*.
*Key Details of the Case*;
*Total Misappropriation: Over ₹2 Crore (Two Crore Rupees)*.
*Modus Operandi*:
 *Preparation of fraudulent arrear salary bills in the names of hospital employees*.
*Legal Charges*:
 Sections 13(2) and 13(1)(a) of the PC Act 1988 (as amended in 2018).
Relevant sections of the IPC (409/467/468/471/120-B).
Relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (316(5)/336(3)/338/340(2)/61(2)).
*Personnel Arrested*
The five individuals arrested include
Sri Jatin Kumar Bhuyan – Senior Assistant.
Smt Bharati Pradhan – MPHW (Female).
Sri Gopal Nahak – Attendant.
Smt Manu Nayak – Sweeper.
Sri Rama Chandra Mallika – Attendant, PHC Beguniapada.
*They  were now forwarded  to the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur*.
*Ongoing Investigation*
Five arrests have been made so far. Vigilance officials are currently investigating the matter to determine the full extent of the syndicate and identify any further official involvement.
