BHUBANESWAR:Odisha Vigilance has cracked down on a major financial fraud case involving Govt. officials in Jagatsinghpur district, arresting accused persons, namely 1) Bhanja Kishore Behera, Ex-SRA, Tirtol Block, A/p-SRA at Naugaon Tahasil, 2) Pradipta Kumar Mallik, Ex-PEO, Tirtol Block (Retied) of Tirtol Block, Dist- Jagatsinghpur. The arrests were made in connection with the misappropriation of Govt funds to the tune of Rs.3,02,95,000/-*.
During an extensive investigation spanning financial years 2011–12 through 2021–22, *the Odisha Vigilance uncovered* a systematically executed financial fraud centred at the Tirtol Block office by Bhanja Kishore Behera, Ex-SRA, Pradipta Kumar Mallik, Ex-PEO, and Late Rajdeep Hansda, Ex-AEE, all of Tirtol Block.
*All three accused officials were found to have misappropriated by fabrication and tampering of government salary registers and disbursal documents. It was further revealed that they prepared and submitted inflated and fraudulent salary bills well beyond sanctioned budget allocations and transferring the embezzled amount straight into their personal Savings Bank (SB) accounts*
In this connection, Odisha Vigilance has registered vide Kataka Vigilance PS Case No.30 dt.12.08.2026 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(a) PC (Amendment) Act, 2018/409/ 420/467/468/471/34 IPC against the accused individuals.
*Sri Behera, Ex-SRA and Sri Mallik, Ex-PEO are being forwarded today* to the Court of Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Kataka.
Investigation of the case is currently in progress.
