BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated three grid substations and eight key transmission lines at Balianta near Bhubaneswar. This is part of power infrastructure projects worth approximately Rs 600 crore aimed at strengthening electricity supply for Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas.

Besides Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister & Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Jayadev MLA Naba Kishore Mallick, Ex MLA Arbinda Dhali, Senior officials from the Energy Department and OPTCL (Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.) were among those present.

Three grid substations at Balianta (including the 220/132/33 KV Balianta Grid Substation) , Eight major transmission lines,  A high-capacity grid substation at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack (for uninterrupted power supply to the hospital and patients from across the state) were inaugurated.

These projects expand and modernize the power transmission network in the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack region.They will improve power reliability, reduce outages, and meet the rising energy demand due to urban growth, IT/semiconductor hubs, upcoming housing societies, and industrial expansion.

The CM highlighted ongoing road projects in Balianta and Balakati areas and a planned Rs 120 crore gas-insulated substation in Nayapalli.

CM said “Good news for residents of Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas. For a permanent solution to power issues, the government has taken a major step. A modern electricity infrastructure in Balianta, built at Rs 600 crore, was inaugurated, featuring 3 powerful grid substations and 8 transmission lines.” He emphasized the government’s commitment to critical infrastructure and quality power supply for both urban and rural areas.

After the inauguration, the CM and dignitaries visited the Balianta Grid Substation.This is a significant boost to Odisha’s power sector, supporting Bhubaneswar’s growth as a major IT and industrial hub.
