BHUBANESWAR: There has been massive corruption in the tender floated by OCAC for installing CCTV cameras in four major universities of the state – Vani vihar, Ramadevi, Manikeswari and Sambalpur. The Kalinga Sena has alleged that the price of the tender was almost doubled with last-minute technical revisions to award the tender to a particular firm.
Speaking to reporters here today, Army Sena Hemant Rath said that after the Higher Education Department took steps to install CCTV in four universities of the state, this work was given to OCAC, which is under the IT Department. Since OCAC is a technical institution, this work was given. A tender was floated to install CCTV in four educational institutions at a cost of about Rs 24 crore. However, the authorities cleverly kept the power to change the terms of the tender and fix the price. Such a ruckus took place with the intention of committing corruption.
The Higher Education Department, IT Department and some dishonest officials of OCAC have somehow succeeded in their conspiracy to award the tender to a particular company. Kalinga Sena has alleged that some changes were made in the technical terms of the tender at the last minute and the tender price was increased by Rs 47 crore. The party is currently keeping an eye on the company to which this conspiracy has been made and will soon inform about it. Along with this, the students of these four universities will also be informed in this regard, Shri Rath told the media.
