Leopard Skin Seized by Berhampur Police , Three Accused Arrested in Jarada PS Case

*Complainant*-Smt. Meenakshi Dalabehera (34 yr) ,  Inspector-in-Charge at Jarada Police Station.
*Name of Accused Persons*  –
1. Gobinda Chandra Nayak (47) S/o Narayan Nayak of village Chachadakhata, PS Ramagiri, Dist. Gajapati.
2. Gunju Raita (60) S/o Raibaria Raita of village Barada, PS Ramagiri, Dist. Gajapati.
3. Ritun Badamundi (25) S/o Late Somanath Badamundi of village Mangarajpur, PS Ramagiri, Dist. Gajapati.
*Seizure*
– One full size skin of a leopard
– Two live handmade bombs
– One sword
– One iron rod
– One knife
*Brief of the Case*
At about 03:45 PM, IIC, Jarada PS received credible information and proceeded to Dhanabada Ankuli area along with her staff. Upon reaching there, four persons were seen running towards the jungle in the hilltop area. The police team immediately chased them. During the chase, the accused persons forcefully pushed the police personnel and used physical force against the team. One of the accused waved a sword and threatened to kill the police officials. After much difficulty, three accused persons were apprehended, while one person managed to escape from the spot along with a gun.
A jute bag was recovered from the spot containing one full-size skin of a leopard and two live handmade bombs. On personal search of the accused persons – full size Leopard Skin and other incriminating articles were found in their exclusive possession.
During the course of investigation, ample evidence under the above-mentioned sections are well made out against the accused persons, they have been arrested and are being forwarded to the Hon’ble Court.
The involvement of other accused persons in the trading /transportation of the leopard skin within and beyond the state jurisdiction is being investigated.
