International Nurses Day celebrated by SUM Nursing College-2, Phulankhara

BHUBANESWAR:SUM Nursing College-2, Phulankhara, celebrated International Nurses Day. This day is celebrated to honor the special role of nurses in the health sector and their work in saving the lives of patients.

The event, organized on Monday, was graced by Professor Renuka Das, former Head of the Department of Community Health Nursing at the Government Nursing College in Berhampur, as the chief guest, while Dr. Roma Ratan Sahu, Joint DMET of the state government, was the special guest, and Ms. Gitarani Nayak, Nursing Superintendent and Assistant Professor of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, was the guest of honor.
While Florence Nightingale’s birthday is celebrated as Nurses Day all over the world, this year’s theme is ‘Our Nurses, Our Future, Empowered Nurses Save Lives’.
The program discussed how nurses can be empowered to save lives while providing care and treatment to patients.
Nurses have a special role in the health sector. Therefore, the guests targeted by WHO to further empower them, said in their speeches.
Professor Parvathi Tripathi, Director of Sam Nursing College and Professor Anuradha Panda, Dean of Sam Nursing College-2 were present and delivered speeches at the event. Several students were awarded on the occasion.
