Suspended IIC Deepak Jena allegedly used Red Beacon Light in a Seized Vehicle

JAJPUR/CUTTACK: Deepak Jena, suspended IIC of Badachana Police Station in Jajpur, who was placed under suspension by Odisha DGP, Abhay, allegedly used Red Beacon Light in a Seized Vehicle and drove it from Jajpur to Puri, sources said on Monday.

“DGP has placed Inspector Deepak Kumar Jena IIC Badachana PS under suspension for his misconduct. Puri Singhdwar PS Case no 40/2020 has also been registered against him and is under investigation,” Odisha DGP Office twitted.

“How IIC Deepak Jena used Red Beacon Light in a seized Vehicle and drove from Badachana PS Jajpur to Puri and why Central Range IGP,IGP(Law and Order) keeping silent. Only suspension is not enough or he shall be dismissed from service under Odisha Civil Services Act,” said sources in Jajpur.

Earlier on Sunday, IIC Jena while flouting lockdown norms by allegedly barged into the Sri Jagnnath temple in Puri along with his family members.

As per reports, Deepak went to offer prayers at the Srimandir (while the temple remained close for devotees due to the ongoing lockdown to contain coronavirus) when he was stopped by a Havildar deployed at the South Gate.

However, Deepak threatened the Havildar and barged into the Srimandir with his family members through the South Gate despite the fact the temple has been closed.With no other options left, the Havildar filed a complaint at Singha Dwara police station. Acting on the FIR, local police had detained the Barchana IIC along with his family members.
