First National India Taekwondo Youth Competition inaugurated

BHUBANESWAR:The first National Youth Taekwondo Championship was inaugurated at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack on 30th. The Chief Guest was Shri Sameer Mohanty, President, Odisha Olympic Association.

He gave his speech about the Olympic vision of Indian sports. Olympian and Arjuna Awardee Dutee Chand was present as one of the chief guests and spoke about the struggles and successes of her sporting life. Similarly, tennis champion and social worker Mrs. Sukirti Patnaik joined and encouraged the children to get involved in the sport of Taekwondo and represent India in the Olympics.

International referee Mr. Peter Fernandes gave his speech on the important role of referees in sports and how they are important in the selection process of sportspersons. Finally, General Secretary of the State Taekwondo Association Mr. Chinmay Behera thanked everyone.
