RAJKANIKA/AALI/BHUBANESWAR:The first flood waters of 2026 are flowing in the Brahmani and Kharasrot rivers today. Today, the shadow of fear is once again gathering in the minds of the people in Rajkanika and Aali in Kendrapada.
Just last year, in 2025, a similar flood came. Even though no human life was lost, all the dreams of the farmer were washed away. The fields remained submerged in water for 8 to 10 days. As a result, not even a handful of rice was available. The farmer sat on the bank of the river with his hands clasped to feed his family.
Today, the flood is coming again at that time. The work of ploughing is going on in full swing in the fields. Most of the farmers have already completed about 90% of their farming work. If such a flood happens again, then people will not dare to farm anymore.
We have 2 demands from the government.
1. Input subsidy announcement: If paddy crops is damaged, immediate assistance for seeds + fertilizer
2. Immediate survey: – Damage survey should be conducted within 72 hours of the water leaving and assistance should be provided.
