BHUBANESWAR:The NSS branch of SOA University organized a program called “Drug-Free India Campaign” on Saturday at the campus-4 premises. The theme of the program was “Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India”. The main objective of the program was to make the youth aware about the ill effects of drugs and encourage them to play an active role in building a drug-free India.
Shri Ajit Kushwaha, Director, NSS Regional Directorate, Government of India, was the chief guest at the event and said that this campaign is being carried out by NSS volunteers under the auspices of the Government of India. Shri Kushwaha exhorted the students on how to make the youth free from drugs and empower them physically, mentally and spiritually through this campaign.
Shri Kushwaha commended SOA University for organizing such a social awareness program and said that the role of educational institutions and NSS volunteers is very important in creating a drug-free society.
SOA Vice Chancellor Prof. Pradeep Kumar Nanda presided over the program and urged the students to stay away from all forms of drugs and administered the pledge of “Drug-Free India”.
Dean of Student Welfare Professor Jyoti Ranjan Das and Dean of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS) Professor Santosh Kumar Raut participated in the program and in their speeches, they called for continued efforts to make the society drug-free.
Dr. Kamal Lochana Mahant, NSS Program Coordinator, Soa University, while delivering the welcome address, called upon NSS volunteers to connect with the youth and actively involve them in the campaign for a drug-free India.
The event, organized at SOA Campus-4, was attended by NSS Program Officer Professor Saroj Kumar Mohanty, Shri Satyanarayan Satapathy, Youth Officer of NSS Regional Directorate, Government of India Shri A. S. Kabir, Dr. Pritiman Mishra and Youth Icon Shri Swaraj Dhar who used their experiences to urge the students to become drug-free.
The program concluded with the resolve to create awareness and spread the message in the society to create a drug-free society.
