JAJPUR:Dr. Satyajit Naik, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Cuttack today inspected Jajpur District Police Office and Reserve Office as per scheduled programme.

He was received by Sri Yash Pratap Shrimal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Jajpur and other senior officers.
During inspection, IGP Dr. Naik reviewed functioning of different sections of DPO & RO, records, staff deployment and welfare measures. He issued instructions to all section heads to ensure better work culture, discipline, time-bound disposal and quality service delivery with an aim to achieve *zero pendency*.
He emphasized on citizen-centric policing, prompt grievance redressal, cleanliness and professional conduct.
In view of the proposed conduct of elections for different offices of the Students’ Union and other Student Societies/Associations in Universities and Degree Colleges for the Academic Session 2026-27, the Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Cuttack has issued necessary instructions to all SsP of the districts under Central Range to ensure peaceful, free, fair and orderly conduct of the elections.
All SsP have been directed to take preventive and proactive policing measures in coordination with the concerned university and college authorities so that the entire election process is conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and without any disruption to academic activities.
The district police have been instructed to identify sensitive and vulnerable educational institutions and locations, assess the prevailing law-and-order situation and make appropriate security arrangements based on local requirements. Adequate deployment of police personnel shall be ensured at polling venues, counting centres and other strategically important locations.
Special emphasis has been laid on preventive action against elements likely to create disturbance, strict enforcement of law and order, prevention of group clashes, intimidation, violence and unlawful assembly, and maintaining close watch over activities that may adversely affect the peaceful conduct of the elections.
The SsP have also been directed to maintain close liaison with Vice-Chancellors, Registrars, Principals, election authorities and other stakeholders of the respective institutions. Necessary coordination meetings shall be held to assess security requirements and address any emerging concerns well in advance.
Police officers have been instructed to maintain strict neutrality and impartiality throughout the election process and to ensure that all candidates and students are provided a safe environment to participate in the democratic process. Any violation of law, irrespective of the identity or affiliation of the persons involved, shall be dealt with firmly and strictly in accordance with law.
Adequate arrangements shall also be made for traffic management, crowd regulation and emergency response, particularly in and around major educational institutions where a large gathering of students is anticipated.
The IGP, Central Range, has emphasized that the objective of the police arrangements is not merely to maintain law and order but also to facilitate the peaceful exercise of democratic rights by students while ensuring that the academic environment of educational institutions remains undisturbed.
All district police units have been directed to remain alert, responsive and accessible throughout the election process and to take immediate action on any information regarding potential law-and-order issues.
The Central Range Police appeals to all students, candidates, student organizations, educational institutions and other stakeholders to uphold discipline, mutual respect and democratic values, avoid provocation and violence, and cooperate with the police and college/university authorities for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Students’ Union elections for the Academic Session 2026-27.
