BHUBANESWAR:Cleanliness and hygiene have always been given first place in our Odia culture and tradition. Cleanliness is not limited to the surroundings of the house, it is our lifestyle, our culture and our character. Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan has appealed to every citizen of the district to participate in the massive cleanliness campaign to be organized across Sambalpur district on the morning of next October 10 under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ through a video message.

Addressing the people of Sambalpur, Shri Pradhan said that our ‘Lakshmi Purana’ clearly states that where there is cleanliness, there Maa Lakshmi resides. In every festival, we first clean our house and surroundings, because without cleanliness and purity, any worship or worship remains incomplete. This is not just a common task, but a spiritual and social responsibility given by our ancestors.

Similarly, Pujya Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi) saw cleanliness not just as a personal practice, but as the foundation of a healthy society and a good life, and he himself got involved in cleaning work and taught the ideals of cleanliness to the entire nation. The country’s Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has always said – “Cleanliness is service”. When we keep our environment clean, we serve the society, the country and our future generations.

Shri Pradhan reiterated that Sambalpur is the sacred land of Maa Samaleswari, the land of Veer Surendra Sai and the meditation place of Swabhakavi Gangadhar Meher. It is the soul of our literature, culture, art and ethics. It is the supreme duty of all of us to keep this sacred land clean, beautiful, garbage-free and healthy.

To take this spiritual and social thought forward, Shri Pradhan requested that every citizen of Sambalpur, young friends, mothers and sisters, public representatives and members of various institutions should contribute their part in cleaning their villages, padas, wards, areas and public places. He called upon everyone to join hands and make cleanliness a mass movement and make Sambalpur a clean, beautiful and healthy district.
