BHUBANESWAR:Deep depression crosses coast; State administration on high alert to deal with possible impact Deep depression formed over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh is crossing the coast and moving towards land.
While heavy rains are continuing in some parts of the state due to this, the state government is taking preparedness, prevention and immediate response measures to deal with possible local impacts. Vigilant Administration, Integrated Preparedness District administration and response forces have been kept alert in the affected and sensitive districts.
Constant monitoring of the situation of sensitive areas including rainfall, water level of rivers and reservoirs is going on. Night patrolling and field surveillance are going on in river banks and other sensitive areas.
Traffic on roads and bridges submerged or dangerous due to excessive rain is being monitored and alternative routes are being taken as per the requirement. Restoration work is underway to restore normal communication and transportation systems by removing fallen trees and obstacles on the roads.
Preventive measures are being taken in landslide prone areas. Where necessary, affected people are being shifted to safer places. Senior departmental officers have been deployed at the district level to coordinate with the administration and monitor the situation.
