Complete account of mineral tax collection in Odisha has not been prepared yet

The state government has said that in view of the Supreme Court’s verdict of 25 July 2024 and order of 14 August 2024, a comprehensive mineral tax assessment has not yet been done in Odisha.

Steel and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena gave this information in response to a question asked by MLA Sophia Firdous through UDA Question No. 853 in the Assembly today.

According to the Minister’s reply, the final consolidated details of total tax claims, assessments, amount collected, lessees included and outstanding amount are not yet available as the cases related to the ORISED Act are pending.

As a result, the full picture of how much mineral tax has been collected since April 1, 2005, has not yet been made public.
