BHUBANESWAR:CID CB Police Station Case No.06/2026 dtd. 09.05.2026 arising out of Balianta PS Case No. 221 of 2026 U/s. 103(1)/3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The CID Crime Branch, Odisha has been entrusted by the Government of Odisha with the investigation into the sensational incident that occurred on 07.05.2026 under Balianta Police Station in the Bhingarpur–Kaja area.
On 14.05.2026, based on substantial evidence collected during the course of investigation, the main accused, Chinu @ Ranjit Patra ( 24 Years) of Gangeswargada, PS-Sadar, UPD-Cuttack has been arrested.
Investigation has revealed his alleged involvement in assaulting the deceased on the head, a vital part of the body, with a bamboo stick after the deceased had been immobilized by having his hands and legs tied with ropes.
Prior to this, accused Bunty @ Judhisthira Jena (22 Yrs) of was arrested on 11.05.2026 and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court.
So far, a total of 13 accused persons have been arrested in connection with the case. Out of them, 11 accused persons were arrested earlier by the local police.
Investigation is continuing on a priority basis, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other persons involved in the incident.
