CUTTACK:Choudwar P.S. Case No. 478 dated 20.07.2026 U/s 331(4)/305(d) of the Bharatiya NyayaSanhita (BNS)
BRIEF FACTS:-
On 20.07.2026, at about 10:35 AM, a written complaint was received from Sri Bijay
Kumar Mohapatra of Village Bhairapur under Choudwar P.S limits, alleging that during the
intervening night of 18/19.07.2026, three unknown persons had broken into Sri Ramachandra Temple of the village and stolen gold and silver ornaments of the deity along with cash fromthe donation box. Based on the complaint, Choudwar P.S. Case No. 478 dated 20.07.2026 wasregistered under the relevant provisions of the BNS and a special team was immediately constituted to investigate the case.
During investigation, the team carried out sustained field enquiries, developed
intelligence and verified information from various locations. On the same day, credible
information was received that three suspects were present near Mundmal Chhak and were
attempting to sell stolen silver crowns. Acting swiftly on the input, the police team conducted a raid and apprehended all three accused persons. During their personal search, two stolen silver crowns were recovered from their possession and seized in accordance with law.
During further interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to their involvement in
the theft at Sri Ramachandra Temple and Mangala Temple of Village Bhairapur, as well as Maa Barasa Baudanga Temple at Village Nuagaon on the night of 19.07.2026
